Position Summary

92Y seeks a part-time intern to provide support to the administrative staff and faculty of the School of Music. This position reports to the Director of the School of Music and tasks relate directly with the day-to-day operations of a community music school. Applicants pursuing a degree in Music Education or Performance, Music Business, Arts Administration or other relevant majors are encouraged to apply. Previous experience working in an educational setting preferred.

Essential Functions

  • Facilitate outreach development.  This may include outreach to local conservatories, colleges and student organizations; submission of events to free listing website, collaborating with our Marketing department
  • Support 92Y School of Music online presence. Tasks may include reviewing website classes for accuracy and updating bios and events
  • Special projects, such as special social media campaigns, data analysis, student surveys.
  • Curriculum and market research, as requested, in support of programming
  • Assisting with student recitals and performances
  • Office support, including copying, aiding with administrative processes, answering the phone, responding to patron correspondence, filing, scanning, etc.
  • Other related duties as required

Education, Skills and Experience

  • Applicants pursuing a degree in Music Education or Performance, Music Business, Arts Administration or other relevant majors are encouraged to apply.
  • Previous experience working in an educational setting preferred.
  • Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Independent thinker, doer, and problem-solver with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Hours:

  • Maximum of 16 hours a week, worked on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (hours worked can be determined dependant on candidate's schedule). Beginning late August / early September, for a total duration of 20-25 weeks. 
  • This is a paid internship ($11/hour). This internship may be taken for academic credit (if applicable).
