Position Summary

Under the direction of Tisch management, the Artistic Administrator will assist in developing and producing Tisch Center Music programming including liaising with and securing performing artists and collaborating with internal 92Y departments on external facing materials for Tisch performances.

Essential Functions

  • In collaboration with Tisch management, contribute to the development and booking of Tisch Center Music seasons, including artist research and artistic programming.
  • Facilitate relationships with performing artists and agents, maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor at all times.
  • Plan and assist in the execution of all Tisch Center Music rehearsals and performances, including coordinating with backstage and front of house staff, resolving scheduling and booking issues and communicating with external vendors, as required.
  • Under the direction of Tisch management, create and monitor the annual operating budget for Tisch Center Music programs, including working with internal departments to ascertain production related costs, secure budget approval and monitor budget expenditure.
  • Oversee the negotiation and execution of artist contracts, new works commissioning and union contracts for Tisch Center Music programs. Provide contract information to the Music Programming Coordinator for contract merge and mailing.
  • Through inter-departmental collaboration, develop successful working relationships with internal colleagues, including those in Marketing and FCG, to support marketing and promotional strategies for Tisch Center Music programming and ensure the effective execution of all Tisch Center Music events.
  • Assist in the editing and developing all external facing marketing material, including catalogue copy, website communications and grant proposals.
  • Attend Tisch Center Music performances and effectively liaise with artists, agents, external providers and KCH staff before, during and after events, as required.
  • In collaboration with Tisch colleagues, obtain approvals of archival recordings from artists and maintain record of archival recordings. Create and manage content for Tisch Center Music YouTube channel and manage the delivery of content to external partners.
  • May be assigned other tasks and duties reasonably related to the job responsibilities.

Education, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferable with Music as a major.
  • Extensive knowledge of contemporary and classical music.
  • At least 2 – 4 years previous experience of programming live music events required.
  • Accomplished, professional interpersonal skills required to deal with artists and patrons, with the ability to maintain a respectful demeanor at all times.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an eye for detail and an articulate telephone manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and organize, prioritize and execute responsibilities in the face of conflicting priorities or unexpected situations.

Hours:

10am – 7pm, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Occasional evening and weekend hours will be required.
