  • Position Summary

    The Program Associate, reporting to the Director, Musical Theater will ensure the efficient day-to-day operations of the Musical Theater programs. Functioning as a key liaison to parents and students, the Program Associate will be responsible for the communication of information covering all aspects of the Musical Theater department.

    Essential Functions

    • Communicate with students and families about auditions, scholarship applications enrollment, registration, student showcases, concerts and other special events.
    • Create and update schedules and rosters for classes, track registrations, coordinate follow-up registrations and monitor and follow up on missed class attendance.
    • Assist with season load, web review and work with marketing on promotional materials.
    • Collaborate in organizing and producing showings, concerts and special events, including: showcases, recitals, showings and outreach performances, including Street Fair and Open House.
    • Work with Director, Musical Theater to create new initiatives for musical theater programming.
    • 5-10 hours of dance classes, as assigned by the Director, Musical Theater.
    • Generate and submit room set-up request for all Musical Theater programs.
    • Responsible for daily administration tasks including processing of invoices, preparing and submitting payroll, maintaining of school and office supplies and submission of maintenance requests.
    • May be assigned other tasks and duties reasonably related to their job responsibilities.

    Education, Skills and Experience

    • Bachelors Degree in the Arts, Education or related field
    • At least two years experience working in a high profile dance or creative arts organization.
    • A demonstrable passion for musical theater combined with at least 2 years of related dance and music class instructions.
    • Knowledge of different kinds of art and educational issues, resources and the New York City school system.
    • Strong organizational, verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
    • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point and Access) with previous Tessitura experience a plus.  
    • Ability to organize, prioritize and execute responsibilities in the face of conflicting priorities or unexpected situations.


    Hours of work: 40 hours per week, Tuesday through Friday, 10am-7pm, Saturday, 9am-6pm. Some flexibility may be required.
