  • Position Summary

    The 92nd Street Y is seeking assistant teachers for our new alternative Jewish afterschool experience. Our children learn about Jewish values, holidays, history, and Bible through art, storytelling, music, drama, text study and group conversations. If you love teaching and working with kids we would like to hear from you. All candidates must have Jewish educational experience and be knowledgeable about Judaism. Camp experience is a plus.

    Essential Functions

    • Assist the lead teacher manage a class of 8 – 15 Kindergarten to Second Grade students
    • Use movement, art, music, and other creative teaching practices
    • Take attendance
    • Hand out snack
    • Be knowledgeable and adhere to each student’s dietary restrictions. A list will be provided at the beginning of the year.
    • Do not leave until all students are picked up or relieved by ATiD Administration
    • Be active in each lesson
    • Return the classroom to how it looked prior to class
    • Attend orientation and two additional professional development sessions

    Education, Skills and Experience

    • Experience working as a Teacher or Assistant Teacher;
    • All candidates must have Jewish educational experience and be knowledgeable about Judaism; and
    • Camp experience is a plus.

    Work schedule: Monday’s from 3:30 p.m. – 6 p.m
