  • Position Summary

    Working in a busy award-winning in-house design department in one of the country’s top cultural and community centers, reporting to the Art Director, the Senior Graphic Designer will take a lead role in the implementation of brand strategy and design direction. The Senior Graphic Designer will also on occasion function as team leader and provide advice and guidance on more complex projects. Requires an ability to work quickly and efficiently on a broad range of design projects.

    Essential Functions

    • Take a lead role in the creation of new concepts, designs and marketing campaigns
    • Take a lead role in overall brand development and strategy
    • Train design staff on design concepts and techniques and function as team lead on complex projects
    • Design and pre-press production of projects assigned to the Creative Services Department
    • Meet with communications, web and marketing staff as well as individual departments at 92Y to implement projects/campaigns.
    • Assist in the design, production and coordination of catalog
    • Attend press proofing when necessary
    • Maintain filing system for projects in the Creative Services Department
    • Traffic work between departments when necessary
    • May be assigned other tasks and duties reasonably related to their job responsibilities.

    Education, Skills and Experience

    • BFA in Advertising or Design
    • 4-6 years minimum experience in fast paced graphics environment
    • Superior design ability and an excellent portfolio demonstrating these skills
    • Meticulous attention to detail, excellent organizational, trafficking, project management and communication skills
    • Ability to make decisions and have good judgment and diplomacy
    • Must have extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite in Mac environment. Flash and HTML experience a plus.  
    • Pre-press production experience a must.

    Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, with a 1-hour meal break. Monday-Friday, 9 am to 6 pm. Some flexibility in scheduling is required to accommodate varying production schedules.
