  • Position Summary

    92Y is looking for an organized, innovative, and tech-savy Accountant to join our growing Finance Management Office. A successful candidate will have 1-3 years of experience and is looking to grow and develop in this role, working alongside the Finance team on daily, monthly, and year-end processes and on special projects. In addition, they will support the payroll function through analysis of our bi-weekly payroll and by serving as backup for the Payroll team.


    The Accountant is responsible for providing accounting and analytical support within the Finance Department including completing daily, bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly financial routines. Working closely with 92Y’s Payroll Manager the Accountant will assist in the streamlining and automation of processes as well as completing bi-weekly payroll analysis. Responsibilities will include providing key support in preparation for and during the annual audit and may also be required to assist program and department managers in analysis of financial and budgeting issues as they relate to their program/department.

    Essential Functions

    • Work with the Payroll Manager to review and complete bi-weekly payroll processing; completing all required analysis and highlighting any variances.
    • Support the Payroll Manager in the continual review of existing processes to identify areas for improvement with a focus on delivering automation.
    • Complete End-of-Day, manual and electronic, journal entries covering both earned and contributed revenue.
    • Perform month-end recurring routines including bank reconciliation and closing entries.
    • Participate in month-end and year-end close and analysis of financial statement accounts.
    • Handle quarterly account reconciliations including receivables schedules.
    • Maintain financial account sub-schedules.
    • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including reports for outside parties.
    • Provide support and guidance to program and department managers to increase understanding of the financial and budgeting aspects of their center / department’s operations.
    • Handle special projects and research into accounting issues.
    • Assist in the development and revision of financial policies and procedures and the integration and operation of financial software systems

    Education, Skills and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • 1 to 3 years of accounting experience required.
    • Qualified accountant or studying towards CPA, ACA or equivalent preferred.
    • Experience with database management and financial software (Blackbaud FE/FENXT) required with previous knowledge of CRM (Tessitura) and payroll (Paylocity) software an advantage.
    • Proven aptitude for learning and maximizing the usefulness of electronic financial systems along with experience of financial systems implementations preferred.
    • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication and organizational skills.
    • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments
