  • Position Summary

    The 92Y Talks team is growing! This role will be responsible for booking guests, generating new programs and experiences, developing new audiences, and cultivating new sponsors for 92Y, with a heavy focus on 92Y’s XYZ program, a membership group for generations X, Y, and Z. The Assistant Director will facilitate new relationships with guest speakers, moderators, thought leaders, third-party collaborators, and corporate sponsors / brands from a variety of industries and fields including, but not limited to, entertainment, politics, finance and the arts. In consultation with the 92Y Talks leadership team and the Managing Director, Strategic Marketing and Program Administration, the role will be responsible for generating unique and innovative programs, in addition to identifying and securing sponsorship and branding relationships that are aligned with 92Y and XYZ target demographics.

    Essential Functions

    • Generate, pitch, develop, and execute new programming concepts and experiences for 92Y’s Talks and XYZ programs.
    • Facilitate relationships with guest speakers, moderators, influencers, thought leaders, agents, third-party collaborators, corporate sponsors / brands across a variety of fields including, but not limited to, entertainment, politics, finance and the arts. Manage and cultivate talent.
    • Responsible for producing programs from inception to execution, including coordinating all logistical details with talent, collaborators, sponsors / brands, and internal 92Y departments.
    • Stay up to date with current trends and new talent, and conduct competitive analysis, to curate compelling and relevant programs designed for target audiences, including generations X, Y and Z.
    • Research, pursue, and execute on sponsorship opportunities that cultivate innovative and unique programming ideas and collaborations in concert with Marketing and Business Development teams.
    • Assist in the development and execution of sponsor activations and concepts, deliverables for programs.
    • Stay current with industry trends, new talent, new venues, and competitive analysis.
    • Liaise with Marketing, Customer Care, Front of House, and PR to develop new audiences and increase ticket sales.
    • Liaise with social media and traditional media contacts, both internal and external, to leverage the content from 92Y’s programs and disseminate 92Y’s brand.
    • Work with 92Y Talks existing programs and relationships to maximize growth opportunities.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

    Education, Skills and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree and/or comparable work experience within the live event or content generation arenas.
    • 5 years’ experience of talent booking and/or live event concept development.  
    • Possesses current rolodex of relevant high-profile contacts and has experience working with high profile talent.
    • A passion for popular culture and current events, with a proven ability to identify new and upcoming trends and talent.
    • Demonstrated ability to generate innovative and unique programming ideas.
    • Proven capability of managing detailed projects from conception through to delivery and evaluation.
    • High-level of research and presentation skills accompanied by a strong proficiency in the use of both on-line tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Demonstrable experience of working on simultaneous, multiple, projects.
    • Ability to take initiative and research contacts.
    • Work both independently as well as be part of a team.
    • Commitment to the mission and goals of 92Y.
    • Knowledge of live event production a plus.

    Hours of work: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Flexibility required to work frequent event evenings.
