Job Summary

The Lifeguard maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, on deck, and surrounding areas. They will create a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with 92NY policies and procedures. By signing this document, you agree to abide and understand all rules and regulations set by the 92NY Aquatic Leadership.

Job Responsibilities Include

  • Ensures the safety of every individual at 92NY, both in and around the pool as well as the rest of the facility. Always rescue ready, this means in guard suit/shorts with whistle, CPR mask, rescue tube and first aid pack. No eating on deck only water will be permitted.
  • Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with 92NY policies and procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  • Enforce regulations pertaining to showers, food and drink, conduct.
  • Responsible to follow proper sub procedures and find adequate coverage for shifts staff cannot work.
  • Maintains effective, positive relationships with members, participants, and other staff.
  • Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
  • Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving and when pool is opening or closing
  • Attends all staff meetings and training as required.
  • Must actively scan the entire pool at all times, including the bottom.
  • Check chemical readings every 3 hours.

Experience, Education, & Skills Desired

  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Certifications: Red Cross Lifeguarding or equivalent.
  • Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
  • Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance and Red Cross standards prior to employment.

Work Environment & Requirements

Per Diem Compensation Range

$19 - $23/hour

 

The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
