Job Summary

The Associate Director of Gymnastics works with the Director of Gymnastics to oversee the leadership, daily operations, staffing, training, coaching and management of the gymnastics/parkour programs. This also includes directing and attending competitive and exhibition events, practices, special programming and summer camps.

Job Responsibilities Include

  • Provides leadership for all gymnastics/parkour programs.
  • Along with the Director of Gymnastics, recruits, trains, and provides management oversight and evaluation of staff.
  • Directs, evaluates and guides the Senior Coordinator of Early Childhood Gymnastics Programs and ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Supervises the Senior Coordinator of Early Childhood Gymnastics Programs oversight of the Junior Gym.
  • Directs lesson plan development and supervises lesson plan implementation, consistency, and accountability of coaching staff.
  • Supports the Director of Gymnastics in oversight of competitive gymnastics programs and operations.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Athletics and the Director of Gymnastics to create annual budgets and to reach budgetary goals.
  • Assist the Director of Gymnastics with venue rotations.
  • Serves as gymnastics/parkour camp Health Director or other roles as needed.
  • Responsible for ensuring all program participants have a supervised pathway for advancement.
  • Cultivates and directs private lessons.
  • Establishes a professional work environment ensuring that the rules of the facility are uniformly followed, as well as effectively and positively supporting and communicating May Center management team policies and practices.
  • Meets with staff regularly and provides feedback in a professional manner.
  • Ensures that customer queries are responded to efficiently and that concerns, and complaints are addressed and resolved effectively and with individualized and flexible plans depending on family needs and requests.
  • Assist in bi-weekly payroll processing.
  • Coordinates gymnastics/parkour venue scheduling.
  • Contributes to providing social media content.
  • Assists Director of Gymnastics with other duties as requested.

Experience, Education, & Skills Desired

  • Bachelors’ degree or equivalent coaching and/or management experience. Other relevant certifications in the field of gymnastics, sport, dance, nutrition or safety a plus.
  • Minimum 3 years of management and successful program delivery experience, as well as coaching and teaching in a school or athletic
  • USA Gymnastics certification required; competitive and/or exhibition coaching experience.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and direct team.
  • Excellent customer service skills accompanied with an aptitude for strong and diplomatic communications and the proven ability to work with people of all ages.
  • Experience with maintaining a program budget and reaching budgetary goals.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to self-motivate and multi-task within concurrent deadlines.
  • CPR & First Aid Certifications required.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrable entrepreneurial skills along with the ability to identify and promote both the May Center and 92NY’s mission.

Work Environment & Requirements

40 hours per week with flexibility to adapt to the needs of the department.

Compensation Range

$50,000 - $65,000

 

The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
