Job Summary

Working closely with programming colleagues, this role will curate a curriculum of continuing educational offerings—including literary seminars—which mostly meet online. Competitive candidates will have a demonstrated track record, public profile, and pre-established network as a scholar, editor, and/or curator in the fields of academia, publishing, and/or the world of literary arts programming. This role is responsible for maintaining an active presence in scholarly communities across the nation, while collaborating with the Executive Director of Continuing Education and directly and indirectly managing staff in programming, producing, and moderating classes. The programs offered aim to advance 92NY’s organizational mission and revenue generation goals.

Job Responsibilities Include

Online Program

  • Source potential writing faculty by researching major publications and academic efforts.
  • Program, schedule, and execute series of approximately 30 seminars per semester.
  • Serve as course moderator in class, providing support for seminar faculty throughout experience, monitoring class chat, and asking questions to instructor during the Q and A period in each session.
  • Liaise with staff when uploading and marketing course information. Proofing course descriptions and suggesting edits to marketing materials.
  • Assess course offerings, including course success metrics and student and instructor experience, on a continued basis.
  • Support student experience by sharing reading assignments and maintaining an active presence during courses, if needed.
  • Serve as ongoing point of contact for faculty to develop high-quality programs of interest to a generalist, life-long learner audience.
  • Monitor budget and registration consistently during and after a given semester.
  • Promote classes via social media, in collaboration with Roundtable Marketing. Work with instructors to promote classes on websites, e-mail lists, and social media platforms.
  • Manage staff associated with portfolio.
  • Other related duties as assigned or requested.

Experience, Education, & Skills Desired

Bachelor’s degree preferably in the liberal arts: English, Comparative Literature, Education, Journalism or History; MFAs and PhDs encouraged.

 

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

  • Wide and deep knowledge of contemporary and classic literature
  • 10+ years work experience with at least 3-5 years in an office environment which focuses on programming; non-profit experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an eye for detail and an articulate manner.
  • Accomplished interpersonal skills with the diplomacy and poise required to support speakers and students.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and organize, prioritize, and execute responsibilities in the face of conflicting priorities or unexpected situations.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.

Work Environment & Requirements

40 hours per week plus evening and weekend participation in classes and special events as needed.

 

This position is approved to utilize a hybrid working model which is subject to change in the future.

Compensation Range

$85,000 - $95,000

 

The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
