The development team is a dynamic group of highly skilled, goal-focused individuals who, alongside program partners, continue to achieve fundraising success by finding creative and unique ways to inspire support across the organization.

 

Position Summary

Reporting to the Vice President, Foundation and Corporate Philanthropy, the Director will take a leadership role in the creation, planning and execution of institutional fundraising strategies for annual giving, priority initiatives, and 92NY programs from foundation and corporate sources. The Director will maximize opportunities for unrestricted philanthropic revenue while simultaneously prioritizing identifying new donors for organizational priorities.  This position will play a critical role in driving the Foundation and Corporate Philanthropy unit’s total fundraising revenues forward, while personally managing a portfolio of donors and prospects with five-to-six figure capacity. The Director will be the leading author of grant proposals, steward and manage relationships, participate in prospect research and the identification of new and diverse donors with significant capacity. Qualified candidates will have a history as an experienced, front-line institutional giving development professional who is both innovative and energetic and who functions well in a fast-paced team environment.

Job Responsibilities Include

  • In conjunction with the Vice President, Foundation and Corporate Philanthropy, help lead the execution of a comprehensive foundation and corporate fundraising program, with an emphasis on securing unrestricted grants while retaining and growing existing support.
  • Manage, grow and diversify a portfolio of 75+ foundations and corporate prospects and donors, whose giving range or capacity exceeds high five-figures.
  • Collaborate with program staff to become thoroughly familiar with a wide array of programs and communicate them in a compelling manner – both verbally and in writing – to donors and prospects.
  • Craft grant proposals, letters of inquiry, reports, concept papers and narratives for application portals and manage the process of preparing and submitting all required documentation, including budgets and expense reports, to meet all donor and prospect deadlines.
  • Work collaboratively with Financial Management Office and program colleagues on grant budgets and supporting materials for proposals, applications and reports.
  • Maintain accurate record of stewardship and contact information in Tessitura.
  • Ensure proper stewardship and acknowledgement of foundation and corporate funders.
  • Represent 92NY and its programs in meetings, site visits, and phone/Zoom conversations with foundation and corporate donors and prospects.
  • Identify meaningful engagement opportunities.
  • Prospect Research: identify funding prospects for 92NY’s programs and other special initiatives.
  • Assist with creating a strategy to grow 92NY’s corporate membership program, including prospect identification and outreach and management of associated benefits.
  • Utilize Tessitura to create strategies for donor growth and to re-engage lapsed donors.
  • Assist at 92NY special events, as needed.
  • May be assigned other tasks and duties reasonably related to job responsibilities.

Experience, Education, & Skills Desired

  • Bachelor’s degree, with Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive, previous and direct experience in foundation and corporate fundraising and grant writing.
  • Extensive knowledge of foundation and corporate foundation philanthropy, trends in institutional giving, and funding communities.
  • Proven track record in relationship-building, donor cultivation and solicitation and securing support from foundation and corporate sources.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and shift priorities simultaneously while meeting internal and external grant and reporting deadlines.
  • Able to conceptualize funding needs in a way that is compelling to prospects and donors.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data with the facility to understand complex budgeting models.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and part of a team.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software and other web-based applications, particularly Excel, and working knowledge of various prospect research tools and databases. Familiarity with Tessitura preferred.

 

Work Environment & Requirements

40 hours/week.

 

This position is approved to utilize a hybrid working model which is subject to change in the future.

Compensation Range

$90,000 - $120,000

 

The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
