Job Summary

The School Engagement Programs Assistant supports the School Engagement in the Arts Department’s initiatives by assisting the Associate Directors with the daily operations of arts education programs across NYC schools. This role ensures smooth communication, coordination, and logistics for arts programming and events involving students, teaching artists, and school stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities Include

  • Serve as a point of contact for schools, teaching artists, and families regarding supply orders, schedules, and logistics.
  • Support communication between program staff, teaching artists, and school stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate correspondence.
  • Respond to inquiries via phone, email, and in-person with professionalism and a solutions-oriented approach while flagging issues upwards as needed.
  • Assist with the coordination and scheduling of arts residencies, workshops, performances, and other school-based events.
  • Support school enrollment, registration, data and report reconciliation
  • Help maintain and update program documentation, including calendars, room bookings, and setup needs.
  • Review and update program details on internal tracking systems and public-facing platforms.
  • Provide on-site or remote support during school events or performances as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the success of school engagement initiatives.

Experience, Education, & Skills Desired

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Minimum of two years of administrative experience
  • Experience working with public schools is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Service-oriented mindset with strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse communities.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, and Zoom; familiarity with scheduling or CRM platforms is a plus.

Work Environment & Requirements

15 hours/week: Monday to Wednesday 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Occasional evening or weekend hours may be needed to support school events.

Per Diem Compensation

$25/hour

 

The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
